ATHENS – When Mark Richt told the media he had a plan to use D.J. Shockley in this weekend’s game against Marshall he didn’t give a lot of details.

He pointed that out after Saturday’s unimpressive 13-3 win over Marshall.

“I never said how much he was going to play,” said Richt. His announcement last week started a spiral of articles on the quarterback situation; some on the sports section front page. And for all of the hype surrounding Richt’s decision to predetermine when Shockley would play, it was like it almost didn’t happen.

D.J. Shockley was in the game for three plays, and the Bulldogs went backwards after his series was done. Three and out – it was something Georgia saw much of the day Saturday.

“The offense sputtered around,” he said. Richt, who said he did not talk to Shockley after the game said he was surprised to see the amount of buzz his quarterback comment made in the press. But he was clearer about the subject on Sunday’s teleconference with the print media.

“I’ll have a plan with the quarterbacks, but I won’t tell the whole world about it,” he said.

Georgia faces LSU in two weeks.
