Perry states his case in TheInsiders Video from Hawkinsville's win in the Georgia Dome last year.

Brandon Perry was elected captain of his team as a freshman by his peers. That honor says as much about the player and the man as anything can be said be a scout. Perry played on the top defensive line in the state of Georgia and maybe the entire south last year, and he will be more of a focus this year with Charles Johnson having graduated.

Breaking down the game film of Hawkinsville vs. Clinch County last night, I got to remember just how good Johnson was in that game (Video); it also got me to thinking at how good Brandon Perry can be as a senior. Perry was in position to make a lot of plays that he would have gotten to make if it weren't for the All-American Defensive End playing on a different level.

Most mortals didn't make the plays that Johnson did last year, and this year Perry has the chance to elevate his game to that level.

Perry got in on his share of plays last year and is one of the most impressive defensive tackles in the south as it stands. He played Mr. Inside to Johnson's Mr. Outside last year, and the first cousins could be doing it again on the college level in the near future.

First though, Perry has the tough job of defending Hawkinsville's State Championship. Here are clips from Perry helping Hawkinsville into the State Title Game last year.

The 1st 1:15 of the footage is Perry at Defensive Tackle. Then he flips over and plays left tackle and you get to see his footwork.

#70 DT/LT Brandon Perry
