Some News and Notes coming from the Georgia Camp this Spring including the wide receiver position which as seen
makes the most of his time.
Due to mostly minor injuries,
operated with just three scholarship wide receivers --
and former running back
-- for most of their first week of spring practice.
(possible concussion) and
(hamstring) missed Friday's scrimmage. Sophomore
(ankle) hasn't participated in several days. Junior
(shoulder) and sophomore
(knee) are out for the entire spring.
"It's crazy, man," Browning said. "Friday was a long day."
In order to rest his receivers during some drills Friday, Richt used quarterbacks
III and Peach County's
to run routes.
"It was just to give those other guys a blow," he said. "It was not a position (change) thing."
The injuries may be a blessing to Browning as he tries to learn a new position.
"It does give me an opportunity to get out there and get a lot of quality reps," he said.
Gartrell has made the most of his extended time with several nice catches in the first week.
SHINING STAR: It used to be that All-American defensive end was the most well-known product of Shiloh High School, but that has changed in the last two months as 16-year-old Diana Degarmo became one of 10 finalists on FOX's American Idol television show.
Who's the bigger star now?
"Diana, there is no question," Pollack said.
Pollack got a sneak peak of Degarmo's talent several years ago when she performed at the opening of the new Shiloh football stadium.
"She was 8 or 9 and she could belt it out then," he said.
isn't participating in any live team drills this spring because he is still recovering from knee surgery he had in the fall, but that hasn't stopped Richt from being impressed with the junior quarterback.
"He's looking really, really good," Richt said. "He's been very sharp in his decision-making and his accuracy. I've seen him throw some passes with touch that I've not seen him throw before. He's learning when to take a little off."
, a 6-foot-8, 195-pound forward out of Lithonia High School, verbally committed to Georgia coach
, according to TheInsiders.com.
"He needs to be a little more selfish," Lithonia coach Lewis Jones said. "He could have averaged around 40 points per game, but he wanted to get everyone involved."
Dozier, who chose the Bulldogs over
North Carolina State
, joins fall signees
in Felton's second recruiting class. He is ranked the No. 75 player in the country by TheInsiders.
