How they scored

The game-line from Georgia's 16-13 victory over UAB

First quarter:

Georgia zipped through the Blazers early as David Greene completed 4 of 4 passes, including a 16-yard touchdown, on the Bulldogs' first drive. Georgia would have put the game away early but, on its second drive, sophomore receiver Bryan McClendon dropped a beautifully thrown pass by Greene in the end zone. That drive ended with a missed field goal.

Key stat: Sean Jones tied Florida's Keiwan Ratliff for the SEC lead in interceptions when he picked off fifth pass.

UGA -- Damien Gary 16 pass from David Greene, 10:10. Drive: 5, 62, 1:34. Key play: Ben Watson 20 pass from Greene to move ball to UAB 16.

Score: Georgia 7, UAB 0

Second quarter:

Georgia played its worst 15 minutes of the season in the second quarter. The Bulldogs' offense had the ball for just 1 minute, 22 seconds. The defense gave up 82 rushing yards, more than it allowed to Clemson, Middle Tennessee and Tennessee in entire games this year. Georgia also had three penalties, including one that converted a fourth down for the Blazers and one 15-yard personal foul.

Key stat: The Bulldogs ran four offensive plays in the second quarter.

UGA -- Billy Bennett 48-yard field goal, 14:54. Drive: 4, 4, 1:35. Key play: Michael Cooper 7 yard run on second play to negate 7-yard loss on sack on previous play.

UAB -- Theron Dudley 2 run, 5:09. Drive: 18, 75, 9:45. Key play: Dudley 9 run on third-and-nine on third play of drive.

UAB -- Nick Hayes 27 field goal, :00. Drive: 10, 44, 3:53. Key play: Corey White 5 pass from Chris Williams turned into 20-yard gain on late hit by Odell Thurman.

Score: Georgia 10, UAB 10.

Third quarter:

Georgia reversed the time of possession numbers from the second quarter, holding the ball more than 10 minutes; however, it didn't add up to many points. In fact, the Blazers took a lead a 13-10 lead after a David Green interception on Georgia's first drive of the half. That turnover allowed UAB to score despite having just 12 yards of offense in the quarter.

Key stat: The Blazers didn't attempt a pass in the third quarter.

UAB -- Hayes 47 field goal, 9:52. Drive: 4, 7, 2:12. Key play: Interception by Justin Whitmore to set Blazers up at Georgia 37-yard line.

UGA -- Bennett 29 field goal, 3:31. Drive: 13, 69, 6:21. Key play: Mario Raley 27 pass from Greene to convert third-and-11.

Score: Georgia 13, UAB 13

Fourth quarter:

UAB had plenty of chances to pull off the shocking upset with three possessions in the final 15 minutes. Georgia scored on its first drive of the quarter but could keep the ball for no more than five plays on their next two drives, allowing the Blazers an opportunity to come back. The biggest play of the game may have been made by safety Greg Blue, when he hit wide receiver Bradly Chavez, forcing Chavez to drop a pass that would have given UAB possession deep in Georgia territory early in the quarter.

Key stat: Georgia held the Blazers to minus-11 rushing yards.

UGA -- Bennett 31 field goal, 12:57. Drive: 7, 38, 2:55. Key play: Reggie Brown 9 pass from Greene to move ball to UAB 22-yard line.

Score: Georgia 16, UAB 13
