Dawgs deliver strong message
Georgia offered Austin Smith less than a month ago once and once a few new defensive coaches saw him in person this spring, it didn't take long for the Dawgs to turn up the heat. The Dawgs had Smith, his father, his mother, and his grandfather in Athens, Ga. Wednesday and the visit went well. Very well. "Georgia is in my top five now and they are making their way up to my top two," said Smith. "The visit was great and it definitely helped Georgia." Smith sat down and ate with most of the UGA coaches Wednesday and he spent a lot of time with Scott Ekeler and Jeremy Pruitt during the visit. Those two had a message for the linebacker target and it was received well. "They told me that they really need me and that they see me as a great athlete that can play all four linebacker positions there. They also said I can help them get over the hump to win a championship." The 6-foot-3, 220 pound rising-senior is now set to make a decision on August 1. He plans to visit Florida, LSU, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Georgia once more between now and then. The Buford, Ga. native is the No. 41 outside linebacker on Scout.
