Auburn Week: Monday Practice Report

Posted Nov 11, 2013

ATHENS - Georgia began preparations for this week's matchup with #7 Auburn by holding a one-hour session under the lights on the Woodruff Practice Fields on Monday.

The Bulldogs are 6-3 overall and 4-2 in the SEC, while the Tigers are 9-1 overall and 5-1 in the conference.

Saturday's game at Auburn will kick off at 3:30 p.m. and will be televised by CBS.

Monday's practice was the first for the Bulldogs since their 45-6 victory over Appalachian State last Saturday.

"We know we've got a tremendous challenge in front of us on Saturday," Georgia coach Mark Richt said. "The boys know what's at stake and we all have great respect for Auburn and the job they are doing. We will need a great week of practice. We got off on the right foot tonight, and we need to keep it going the next few days."

Richt said the captains for Saturday's game will be quarterback Aaron Murray on offense, linebacker Amarlo Herrera and end Garrison Smith on defense, and linebacker Jordan Jenkins on special teams.

In other news:

• The kickoff time for the game on Saturday, Nov. 23, between Georgia and Kentucky in Athens will be 7 p.m. The game will be broadcast on either ESPN2 or ESPNU, based on the outcomes of games this weekend. Georgia's seniors will be recognized in a pregame ceremony.

• Murray was named one of the 12 finalists for the Wuerffel Trophy, which is given annually to the player who best combines athletic and academic achievement with community service. Murray has set three SEC career records this season: passing yards, total offense and touchdown passes (ironically, supplanting Wuerffel for the latter).
