Bulldogs Return to Sanford Stadium

ATHENS - The fifth-ranked Georgia Bulldogs practiced at Sanford Stadium Thursday for the second straight day.

After holding a 90-minute scrimmage Wednesday night, the Bulldogs returned to Sanford Stadium for a 90-minute situational scrimmage as they continue preparations for the season opener. After practice, the assistant coaches fielded questions from the media.

"We've gotten better each scrimmage, and that's what you want as you work on getting ready for the season," Georgia offensive coordinator Mike Bobo said. "You want to limit your first game mistakes, there will be some, but I think we've done a good job of testing our guys during camp."

On Thursday, the Southeastern Conference announced the Coaches Preseason All-SEC team and senior quarterback Aaron Murray was one of eight Bulldogs selected to the team. Murray along with sophomore tailback Todd Gurley and senior tight end Arthur Lynch were all voted to the First Team on offense. In a league that features a quarterback with two national championships in A.J. McCarron (Alabama) and the reigning Heisman Trophy winner in Johnny Manziel (Texas A&M), Bobo was asked about Murray making the first team.

"He (Murray) would be my pick," Bobo said. "He's our guy, and I wouldn't trade him for anybody."

When asked about the play of the youthful members of the Bulldog secondary, associate head coach/defensive coordinator Todd Grantham said he has been pleased with their performance.

"Our younger players are serious about learning the system and are getting better and better," Grantham said. "We're not counting anybody out at this point, we've got a few more practices to go until we play Clemson."

The Bulldogs open their season on Aug. 31 when they travel to South Carolina to face the eighth-ranked Tigers at 8 p.m. The contest, which is 2013's only season-opening top-10 matchup, will be broadcast nationally on ABC.
