"It's been too cool at practice lately, but it was hot today and we definitely got better," said Richt. "We had to fight through the weather."
Following Friday's practice, freshmen newcomers were made available to the media for the first time in camp. J.J. Green, a 5-8, 171-pound native of Kingsland, Ga., has been working with the running backs and said while he can play some receiver, he's now a tailback.
"I'm taking the approach that I've got to go to work each day and improve and I can be that guy behind Todd (Gurley) and Keith (Marshall)," said Green who graduated early from Camden County and enrolled at Georgia in January. "(Freshman running back) Brendan Douglas has impressed me too. He's strong and flexible, and he can be in that rotation too."
Meanwhile, tight end Jordan Davis, a 6-4, 225-pound native of Thomson, Ga., said he is learning the plays and aiming to run crisp routes.
"I'm getting there and starting to feel more confident," said Davis who graduated from Thomson High School. "I'm working on being more physical even against guys that are bigger than me. I know I have to compete, and I want to contribute to the team."
