ATHENS - Dean Legge's look at the 2013 Appalachian State Mountaineers…
2013 Preview: Legge's Look at North Texas
North Texas September 21, 2013 Sanford Stadium -------------------------- First Meeting North Texas isn't very good, and this game is positioned at a good spot for Georgia to catch its breath after a furious start. The Mean Green roll into Athens just after one of Georgia's off weeks of the season. The game will be full of young children and a late-arriving and early-leaving crowd. As soon as the first quarter starts fans will turn their attention to the fight with LSU that looms a week later. Georgia will win in a blowout. North Texas player to watch: Zachary Orr Linebacker Senior 6-0, 223 Orr became just the third North Texas linebacker since 2006 to top 100-plus tackles when he recorded a career-high 108 last season. In six games, Orr reached double-digit tackles, including ten in the season-opening loss to LSU. Orr, a 223-pound middle linebacker, has the physicality to disrupt Georgia's running game – although that seems like an ambitious goal for the Mean Green. North Texas, after all, ranked 75th in total defense last year and allowed 44 touchdowns. 2013 North Texas Schedule Aug 31 Idaho Sep 07 at Ohio Sep 14 Ball State Sep 21 at Georgia Oct 05 at Tulane Oct 12 MTSU Oct 19 at Louisiana Tech Oct 26 at Southern Miss Oct 31 Rice Nov 09 UTEP Nov 23 UTSA Nov 30 at Tulsa What the Dawgs must do: Win quick. This game will be a quick breather for the Dawgs who will face Vanderbilt the following weekend. Inside the numbers: The Mean Green can churn out yards but can't seem to score many points. North Texas gained more than 4,000 yards for a school-record sixth straight season last year, but finished just 103rd in nation in scoring with 20.9 points per game. Recruiting Implications: None. Georgia and North Texas don't recruit against one another. Last year's prediction (vs. Florida Atlantic): Win quick. This game will be a quick breather for the Dawgs who will face LSU the following weekend. Georgia thrashed Florida Atlatic with a second half surge.
