Wake first to offer Proehl

Wake Forest was the first to offer Charlotte area product Austin Proehl of Providence Senior High School. The 5-foot-11, 170-pound wide receiver is the son of Demon Deacon and NFL great, Ricky Proehl. He said the connection to the program could be a big plus when it becomes decision time.

"I've kind of grown up there," Proehl said of Wake Forest. "I've always kept up with the football team and how they're doing. Last Thursday, I was on the phone with Taylor Stubblefield, the wide receivers coach, and he told me I had an offer.
