Richt visits with Bellamy

Three Georgia coaches stopped by to see Davin Bellamy Monday. How did the visit go?

Davin Bellamy took his official visit to Athens over the weekend, and a trio of coaches from UGA stopped by for an in-home visit with the four-star pass rusher Monday.

Though he is committed to Florida State, Bellamy has made it known that Georgia is currently his leader. After seeing head coach Mark Richt, defensive coordinator Todd Grantham and running backs coach Bryan McClendon Monday night, the Bulldogs are still in good shape to land the 6-foot-5 Chamblee (Ga.) High product.

"[It went] pretty good," said Bellamy of the in-home visit. "We just really talked about normal stuff, not football."

The coaches had dinner at J.R. Crickets with Bellamy and his mother, who quickly became a Richt fan.

"My mom and coach Richt really opened up to some personal things that she usually doesn't talk about," said Bellamy.

What does Bellamy's mom think of her son's new leader?

"She's going to support me anywhere I go," said Bellamy. "She's made that known, so she accepts it."

Bellamy told Fox Sports Next's Chad Simmons that trust would play a big role in his decision. Did the visit Monday solidify his trust in the Georgia coaches?

"Definitely," said Bellamy.

While on his official visit, Grantham told Bellamy he could follow the pattern of successful outside linebackers like Justin Houston and Jarvis Jones. The Georgia defensive coordinator echoed those sentiments Monday.

"Coach Grantham said 'we'll do wonders with each other,'" said Bellamy, who used the statements as Grantham's way of addressing the rumor that he is a candidate for the Philadelphia Eagles' defensive coordinator position.

"[That] means, to me, I don't think he's leaving.

After the Georgia visit Monday, Bellamy will host coaches from Oregon at his home Tuesday and Florida State head coach Jimbo Fisher later in the week before announcing his final decision on National Signing Day February 6.
