2014 QB gets First Offer
"I went up to West Virginia last week for Thanksgiving and I went over to visit Marshall while I was there," Price Wilson told Scout. "They have been showing interest in me since I camped there over the summer and I grew up a Marshall fan, so I just went over for a visit. "I got to meet with the coaches and stuff and they decided to offer me a scholarship. Coach Doc Holliday (Marshall Head Coach) was the coach that offered me and Coach [Tony] Peterson (Quarterback Coach/Co-Offensive Coordinator) was in there too. "I did not go into that visit thinking I was going to get an offer, but once they called me back to the offices, I started thinking it might be a possibility. I just did not want to get my hopes up though." Wilson may not have wanted to get his hopes too high, but in reality, he now has a right to be excited. He received his first scholarship offer to play football in college and he has very strong ties to the school that offered him. "My mom and my grandfather went to Marshall and my grandfather (Cebe Price) is actually in the basketball Hall of Fame there. "It is exciting to have my first offer, but it being from Marshall makes it even better. I am honored to have the offer and I know my family is very proud too." The Thundering Herd have played in front of the 2014 signal caller out of Marietta (Ga.) Walton many times and they will likely always be on his list of favorites. "I have been going to games there for a long time and I love Marshall, but I do not want to say that gives them a big edge right now or anything," he said. "I am open to other offers and I want to see who else may offer me, but this offer is big. My family is from Huntington, W.V. and I loved there until I was nine, so I have a lot of interest in them." Wilson likes more than just his family history there too. "I know their quarterback [Rakeem Cato] had a good season and he put up big passing yards, so I like how they let their quarterback throw the ball around. I also like their offense and I think I can fit into it very well. I am a pocket passer and that is where their quarterback throws from a lot." Wilson was left speechless after getting the news and it made Thanksgiving 2012 that much more special for the Wilson family. He is hearing from Boston College and Michigan State at this time too.
