Leonard Floyd (6'4/240) signed with the Georgia Bulldogs as a member of the Class of 2012, but he enrolled at Hargrave Military Academy in Chatham, Va. for the 2012 season. He is scheduled to rejoin the Bulldogs in the Class of 2013, and what a player Georgia is getting in Floyd.
Listed as a 4-Star defensive end coming out of Dodge County High School, it's easy to understand that evaluation because of his tremendous frame and the projection of how he will keep getting bigger. But Floyd is playing outside linebacker for Hargrave, and that's where he'll likely fit Georgia's 3-4 defense the most effectively.
Really, with Floyd's athleticism, he could play outside linebacker in a 4-3 system just as easily. He sheds blocks from a stand up position well. He has the quickness to work his way out into the slot to cover receivers in the flats, and he has the top end speed to run down running backs from the back side.
Floyd is arguably the top post graduate prospect in the country this year, and he has the physical tools and on the field instincts to be an impact player for Georgia early in his career.
Here is a look at Floyd in action from his game against Georgia Military on October 6th in a homecoming for him of sorts.
