“He’s been thinking about it for a while,” Johnny O’Neal, Sr. said after the commitment. “He’s been praying about it, and he decided to commit to Georgia today.”
The 6-2, 230-pound linebacker is seen as a bruising middle linebacker who should help the Bulldogs at that spot in the 2013 season and beyond.
“He likes to play a physical style of football,” Fox Sports next recruiting analyst Chad Simmons said. “He does a good job of tackling through the opponent, and he tackles with force.”
The Bulldogs did not sign a middle linebacker in the class of 2012, and are trailing Alabama for the state’s #1 linebacker Rueben Foster. Foster is committed to the Tide.
O’Neal is Georgia’s ninth committed player for the 2013 class and is considered a four-star linebacker. The commitment came after a so-called junior day at Georgia
