Commings Placed on University Probation

ATHENS - Sanders Commings agreed to a resolution with the University of Georgia's Office of Student Conduct last week.

As reported first by the Athens-Banner Herald's Marc Weiszer, the senior cornerback admitted to violating the university's conduct regulations for his involvement in a domestic violence arrest Jan. 21.

The informal resolution places Commings on university probation until Aug. 17. He must also complete anger management and alcohol and drug education programs and complete 25 hours of community service.

He is scheduled to appear in Athens-Clarke County court on March 22.

Commings was suspended two games by coach Mark Richt. He won't play in the Sept. 1 season-opener against Buffalo and the SEC opener against Missouri the following weekend.

A 6-2, 217-pound native of Augusta, Commings started all 14 games in 2011, recording 55 tackles, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery, one interception and 12 pass break-ups.
