ATHENS - Cornerback Sanders Commings was arrested Saturday on charges of simple battery and family violence.

Commings, 21, was booked in the Athens-Clarke County jail at 9:06 a.m., according to the Sheriff's department website.

Commings was released after posting $1,000 bond Saturday afternoon.

Commings recently turned down the NFL draft to return to school for his senior season.

"We came to Georgia of dreams and goals of winning championships," Commings said. "That's why I stayed."
