Richt Suspends Washington Two Games

ATHENS – Cornelius Washington has been suspended at least two games by Mark Richt after being arrested on DUI charges Sunday morning.

Washington, who started and had two sacks in Georgia's 24-10 win over Mississippi State Saturday, was arrested for suspicion of misdemeanor DUI in Jackson County and released on a $3,500 bond after being picked up driving 92 miles an hour in a 55 mile-per-hour zone.

"Our policy on a DUI is minimum of a 20% suspension. It will be at least that," Richt said.

Richt indicated that the 20% suspension policy translates to at least two games.

"Cornelius is sick. He feels awful. He knows he let the team, coaches and his family down. He understands that there is a price to pay for it," Richt said. Recommended Stories
