Belin Moves on to Panthers

ATHENS – Warren Belin's time at Georgia was short.

The Carolina Panthers will announce this evening that the linebackers coach will take a similar position with their organization two sources close to the situation have confirmed.

Belin came to Georgia from Vanderbilt a year ago. He was the linebackers and the recruiting coordinator.

"It is disappointing because I was really close to Coach Belin," four-star linebacker Amarlo Herrea said. "It was surprising. But I think it is a good thing for him."

Georgia coach Mark Richt will now have to replace two assistant coaches after Signing Day. Former offensive line coach Stacy Searels left for a similar position at Texas in January.

"Warren made some outstanding contributions to our team and program in his year with us and we wish him the very best in his new role with the Panthers," said Richt in a statement.
