The Bulldogs have put all of their running back eggs in one basket – Isaiah Crowell – and are waiting on no less than four other out-of-state prospects to make their decision on Signing Day or afterwards.
Crowell, who would be the crown jewel of what could be a very, very strong 2011 recruiting class, will decide between Alabama and Georgia on ESPNU at 1:30 PM. Dawg Post will have a reporter on site for Crowell’s decision.
"It has been back and forth a lot," Crowell said of Georgia and Alabama recently. "I have tried to see what's best for me. Coach McClendon and I have a good relationship. Its a tough decision, but I am not going to let it get to me. I am going to stay humble. My decision will be about who I have the best relationship with."
John Jenkins, who is a highly-sought-after defensive tackle at Gulf Cost Junior College (MS) will announce his decision on Saturday in his home town in Connecticut at 2 PM.
"Georgia told me that I’m the link they need to be successful. Pretty much hearing that if you decide to come in that the pressure will be on you because you’re that link is huge. It’s like having a car. You have the lights and everything else you need, you just don’t have the engine," Jenkins said of Georgia early last month.
It is expected that Jeoffrey Pagan will pick Alabama over Georgia in Asheville at 9 AM on Signing Day. Pagan has had a whirlwind recruiting process – and anything goes when it comes to predicting the defensive end/linebacker’s decision. Pagan has committed and decommitted to Florida twice and done the same to Clemson once. Georgia appeared to lead for him coming into the weekend, but now Alabama seems to be in control.
"I talked a lot with Coach Grantham, and he is a good coach," Pagan said in December of Georgia. "He talked about my versatility, how I could slide along the defensive line in his scheme and how they could use me in his first recruiting class. He thinks I could really fit in there, and that I could line up at the three technique, five technique, six technique or even stand up some times."
Antonio Richardson is expected to pick Tennessee over Georgia on Signing Day between 10 AM and 11 AM. The offensive tackle made a surprise official visit to Athens in January, which was likely because of his relationship with five-star commit Ray Drew. Georgia’s follow-up visit with the Nashville native also went well. There is a chance the Bulldogs could come in late and steal Richardson, but that is considered unlikely.
"I made my decision last night," Antonio Richardson told Scout.com early Tuesday morning. "The schools I will be choosing from tomorrow are Auburn, Georgia, Tennessee and LSU."
Kent Turene, a south Florida linebacker, had been committed to Southern Cal for a long time, but recently decommitted from the Trojans and has since opened up his recruiting to Georgia, Texas Tech and Nebraska.
"I think I will know when I wake up Wednesday morning. I could choose any one of those four schools. I just need to talk to my mom about it, go over things I like about each school, and just make my mind up."
