McGarity Discusses Georgia Future

AUBURN – Based on performance thus far in 2010, Mark Richt will be Georgia's head coach next season, athletic director Greg McGarity said.

"I would say based on the first 10 games, no question about that," McGarity said before Georgia's game at Auburn. "I know we're 5-5, but you go back and look at all the dynamics and look at how close the games were."

Richt, in his 10th season at Georgia, has taken criticism after posting a 13-10 record the past two seasons.

"The bottom line is, it's the relationship you have with the coaches," McGarity said. "At the end of the day, contracts are contracts. I've just always felt like, and it's the model we had at the University of Florida, the bottom line is just trust the relationship you have with each other. Those things aren't built in two months."

McGarity doesn't give out "votes of confidence," he said, but as it stands now, Richt will return next season.

Richt was asked after the game about a report from a Colorado newspaper about the Buffaloes being interest in him. Richt indicated he was not interested in the job.

"My home is at Georgia," Richt said.
